When Rowen reached out about her and Brandon’s wedding in Bend, Oregon, I was SO excited. I first met Rowen’s family back in 2022 when I photographed her brother’s wedding in Texas. A few years later, it was her turn to plan a wedding, and I couldn’t believe I was getting the opportunity to photograph another huge milestone for their family—this time all the way across the country! Rowen and Brandon planned an intimate June wedding with 50 of their closest people, and getting to travel to Oregon to document it was such an honor. Their day was intentional, personal, and such a beautiful example of just how special a smaller celebration can be. So before we get into a few of my favorite wedding venues in Oregon, I have to take you through Rowen and Brandon’s day first!
(P.S. If you’re on the lookout for an Oregon wedding photographer to document your wedding day—on digital and film—I’d love to chat!)

Rowen and Brandon brought 50 of their closest people together in Bend for their wedding weekend, starting with a welcome party at the High Desert Museum. This location was especially meaningful because Rowen actually works there! Rather than choosing somewhere simply because it was beautiful, they got to welcome everyone to a place that was already part of their life in Oregon. I LOVE when couples find little ways to make their wedding weekend feel this personal.
The next day, everyone gathered at Aspen Hall in Shevlin Park for the wedding. Surrounded by trees and the natural beauty Bend is known for, it was such a fitting setting for the intimate celebration they had planned. With only 50 guests, their day felt incredibly close-knit. These weren’t just 50 names on a guest list—they were the people Rowen and Brandon genuinely wanted beside them as they stepped into this next chapter together.
One of my favorite moments happened when Rowen and Brandon stepped away from everyone else to exchange private vows on the dock. In the middle of a day spent celebrating with all of their favorite people, they had this quiet pocket of time that belonged only to them. Nothing elaborate or overly planned. Just the two of them by the water, reading the words they had written to each other and taking in the fact that they were about to be MARRIED!
That sums up so much of what I loved about Rowen and Brandon’s wedding. Nothing needed to be overcomplicated. They chose meaningful places, invited the people they couldn’t imagine celebrating without, and made space throughout the weekend to actually enjoy it all together.

I think Rowen and Brandon’s day is such a good example of why smaller weddings can be incredibly meaningful. A smaller guest count doesn’t mean your wedding has to feel casual, stripped down, or any less celebratory. It simply gives you the opportunity to be really intentional about who is there and what you want the experience to feel like.
There isn’t one right way to have a small wedding. And there definitely isn’t one right place to have it! Oregon happens to have SO many beautiful options, from forests and rivers to orchards, mountains, and the coast. So if Rowen and Brandon’s celebration has you thinking that an intimate wedding might be right for you, here are a few more wedding venues in Oregon worth adding to your list.

If your dream Oregon wedding involves the Columbia River Gorge stretching out behind you, The Griffin House needs to be on your list. Located just outside Hood River, the property combines those huge Oregon views with grounds that can work for celebrations ranging from intimate gatherings to weddings of up to 175 guests. The venue also provides access to the grounds throughout the wedding day and has its own furniture collection, including tables, chairs, lounges, and rugs. The surrounding landscape does so much of the visual work for you, while the property itself still feels polished enough for a beautifully designed celebration. For couples who want their wedding to feel elevated and intentional while still being unmistakably Oregon, this would be such a beautiful place to begin.
Loloma Lodge is for the couple who reads “wedding in the woods” and immediately says YES. Located in McKenzie Bridge, Loloma is a forest destination where you can bring your people together for more than a few hours of celebrating. The property offers accommodations for 35 guests, additional camping options, a rustic reception space, ceremony site, stage, and prep kitchen. For a smaller wedding, I especially love the idea of turning the celebration into an entire weekend here. When some of your closest people can actually stay on the property with you, the wedding starts to feel less like one event everyone arrives at and leaves a few hours later.
If you fell in love with the Central Oregon scenery surrounding Rowen and Brandon’s wedding, House on Metolius is another venue I would absolutely look into. This private resort and nature reserve sits on 200 acres along the Metolius River and is surrounded by millions of acres of national forest. The property has been used as a private estate and retreat for more than a century and hosts weddings alongside other private gatherings.
There’s something about a place this secluded that feels especially fitting for an intimate wedding. Instead of feeling like you’re hosting an event in the middle of everything else going on, you get to bring your favorite people somewhere that feels completely removed from everyday life!
The Orchard is another Hood River option, but it has a completely different feel. Tucked into a pear orchard, the venue sits between Mt. Hood and Mt. Adams and is filled with gardens, lavender, farmland, and mountain views. Its reception barn is open-air but weather protected, and one of my favorite details is that the design of the property keeps Mt. Hood visible throughout so much of the celebration—not only during the ceremony.
I think that’s such an important detail when you’re choosing a venue! Ceremony views tend to get ALL the attention, but you’re only standing at the altar for one portion of your wedding day. At The Orchard, the scenery continues into cocktail hour, dinner, dancing, and everything in between. For a smaller wedding, I can picture the space feeling like the most beautiful outdoor dinner party, with your favorite people gathered around you and the Oregon landscape in the background.
This private, 200-acre orchard estate sits at the base of Mt. Hood and combines heirloom apple and pear orchards, gardens, forests, meadows, ponds, historic architecture, and panoramic mountain views all on one property. The farm hosts a limited number of weddings during its wedding season, with its Apple House serving as a window-lined reception space overlooking Mt. Hood and Surveyors Ridge.
This would be such a beautiful option for couples who want the intimacy and warmth of an outdoor Oregon wedding but still want the overall experience to feel refined. The property already has so much texture and color between the orchards, gardens, architecture, and mountains that you aren’t starting with an empty space and trying to create an atmosphere from scratch. It’s already there. One thing to keep in mind if you’re planning a very small celebration is that the venue currently lists a 75-person minimum guest count, so this one makes the most sense if your definition of a smaller wedding is closer to that range rather than a 20- or 30-person celebration.
And then we have the Oregon Coast! If mountains and forests aren’t quite what you picture when you imagine your wedding day, Crook Point gives you something completely different. The property stretches along more than two miles of private Southern Oregon coastline and offers six oceanfront wedding venues, along with eight homes for lodging. Crook Point hosts everything from elopements to larger weddings and also offers specialty packages specifically created for intimate celebrations.
For me, the biggest appeal of a place like Crook Point is the experience you can create around the wedding itself. You’re bringing your people to the coast, staying near one another, and celebrating somewhere that feels like a destination without ever leaving Oregon. And photographically?! Give me the cliffs, ocean, wind, open landscape, and rocky coastline ALL DAY. This would be such an incredible choice for couples who want something a little adventurous and don’t necessarily picture themselves getting married at a traditional venue.
If Central Oregon is calling your name but you want something a little different from the forest setting of Bend, The Spot at Smith Rock is such a beautiful option to consider. Located near Smith Rock State Park, this venue gives you access to the rugged high-desert scenery that makes this part of Oregon SO recognizable. Think dramatic rock formations, wide-open landscapes, and that warm, earthy Central Oregon feel that photographs beautifully in practically every direction. For couples planning a smaller wedding, I love the idea of choosing a setting where the landscape itself becomes such a big part of the experience. You can keep the details intentional and the guest list intimate without your celebration feeling small.
Deschutes Riverfront Retreat is a great option for couples who want their wedding to feel less like a traditional venue and more like gathering everyone they love at an incredible Oregon getaway. Set along the Deschutes River in Bend, the property gives you that peaceful, nature-filled atmosphere without having to venture far from everything the area has to offer. I especially love a setting like this for a smaller guest list because it naturally creates a more relaxed experience. Instead of moving through a huge event space, you can spend the day surrounded by the river, trees, and the people you intentionally chose to celebrate with.
SeaWinds Estate brings us back to the Oregon Coast, and WOW is the scenery completely different from what you’ll find around Bend and Central Oregon. Located near Bandon and Coos Bay, this private coastal estate is surrounded by the wild beauty that makes Southern Oregon such an incredible place to get married. If you picture ocean views, windswept portraits, and a celebration that feels more like a coastal escape with your favorite people, SeaWinds is worth adding to your list!

When you’re comparing wedding venues in Oregon, it’s easy to start making decisions based entirely on which place has the prettiest ceremony view. Oregon wedding venues make that particularly difficult because you could get married overlooking the Columbia River Gorge, underneath towering trees, beside a river, in an orchard with Mt. Hood in the background, or on a private stretch of coastline. There are a ridiculous number of beautiful options. But the setting is only part of it.
Think about what you actually want your wedding to feel like once you’re there. Do you want your closest people staying nearby for an entire weekend? Do you picture everyone sitting around one long dinner table? Are you hoping for somewhere quiet and secluded? Do you want your guests to experience a part of Oregon that you already love? Would you rather be surrounded by mountains, forest, farmland, or the ocean? Most importantly, choose a place that gives you room for the parts of the day you actually care about!

If you’re planning an intimate wedding in Oregon, I hope Rowen and Brandon’s day gives you inspiration to make your celebration exactly what you want it to be.
And if you’re looking for a photographer who will happily hop on a plane to Oregon to document all of it, hiiii! Getting to photograph Rowen and Brandon’s wedding after photographing her brother’s wedding years earlier was such a full-circle experience, and I’d do it all over again in a heartbeat!
If you’re searching for wedding venues in Oregon and planning a celebration centered around meaningful moments, your favorite people, and photographs that actually feel like you, I’d absolutely love to hear what you’re dreaming up!
